/What kind of selection should be used for an electric guitar?

I'm shopping for my nephew who plays guitar and saw some pretty cool-looking guitar picks. But I am musically challenged and have no idea if they are well (or better) to use on an electric guitar. Some sterling silver are of different thicknesses and one is abalone shell. They are a sort of face So we really want them to work. Thanks for the help! I know you can use plastic, but I want to know if others would be nice, or maybe even better?

No, continue with the plastic, preferably 88 TORTEX Dunlop picks given that they are easier on the hands (grip wise), used to break the chains, and produces a better sound when playing.
