A torque is a rigid collar that was made of woven wire rope. So artisans and metal thread would turn itself around as the rope and that's where The name comes from. The Latin word for word twist gives the torque and torque as we know the word today.

Torcs we are familiar as jewelry Bronze Age and lasted from about 1000BC to 300AD About but were being used before and after that, perhaps less serious form. They are best known as Celtic jewelry, but were used by other races like the French, German and Spanish.

Another feature of the torque is that it is open at one end. It is round and revolves around the neck, but not closed as a collar today. The purpose was often adorned with small heads or sculptured forms.

Torcs were not just for ornamentation, but had a special role as ornamentation of war and were removed from the body of the vanquished by the victor, so if you have lost your torque usually means that you also lost his life or liberty without doubt. Torque is often related to their tribe or family, and was inscribed with the history of the family and symbols.

Sometimes torques were worn on the arm or wrist, but primarily around the neck. Often hinges on the back of the neck and were sometimes able to be closed, but torque traditionally worn around the neck was twisted fiber fabrics or bronze or gold, silver and sometimes was open to some kind of ornamentation at the ends such s the heads of birds or animals or mythical animals like dragons.

Torcs were often heavy and look at me surprised of how these ancient craftsmen could do those things

Torque is another antique jewelry and functional. Served a purpose as a symbol or a statement who you were, what was worth, and where you come.
