Most mechanics are electronic these days and are mass produced. The interior work of most of the clocks are no longer very different from each other. There are very cheap clocks that keep time very good and even looks good. Personally I can buy a dollar clock ten every two years. They are still working, when I get rid of them, but the new batteries are abouty the same cost as a new watch battery. After that, then everything depends on the extras you want. The more bells and whistles the more it will cost. Also the name and the case will have much to do with cost. A box of gold, of course, be more than a box of stainless steel. Jewels cost and add nothing to the watch itself, but it looks good. I have a Rolex from the early 60. That the company has a name as one of the best. Well I disagree. That clock has never worked more than three months since it was new. Actually worth a lot of mud Now that the first time I bought. The gold in it is worth much more than it was in the early 60s.
