I asked my 8 year old son: "What Valentine's Day for you?" He pauses for a moment and says, "It is about giving gifts people and schools who share, like little mini cards. "respond", but what does it mean? "" Uh … for almost be grateful for others, "he says.

I asked the same question from my daughter of 6 years.

"Sharing gifts with all people …?" He says.

Anything else? "I answer.

"Share with my family?" He says.

So it was a dead out with it. She has a tendency to copy his older brother.

The toddler had no comment.

Valentine's Day should be a fun time for children. I think mine has the right idea. To share with others and learn the importance of love and family and friends, not only about how to obtain this or that. We buy each child a small gift for Valentine's Day, but the best of the party is spending time with each of them. For children, who may be a little intimidating, but I have some ideas to make it fun.

1. Make a craft together. There are tons of websites find all kinds of neat crafts that will make the day a little more special.

2. Print some coloring pages, color! You will feel like a kid again too.

3. Cookies. Or a cake. Decorate with sprinkles and other fun accessories. Then chow down! It can be a little awkward, but the memories will last forever.

4. Share some of the goodies just made (with the above 3) another loved one. Grandparents love this kind of thing Track * track *

5. Watch one of your favorite movies. Do not have to be caramel, but something everyone will enjoy.

The great thing about all these activities is that you can do throughout the year and I am sure many of you already do. It is another way to show kids that there is love to spread throughout the year.
