We are now "officially" in recession, says financial experts of our government and Wall Street. Most of us have known for quite some While our economy is sick and that there is a sense of desperation in the media, at work, and discussions of our family. What many of us do not realize is that this massive amount of economic and emotional insecurity is a huge cost most of us. Anxiety levels are increasing dramatically with each new financial forecasting and all the stories "break" of media in connection with the disappearance of our banking system, manufacturing sector, financial institutions, pension plans and employment opportunities. Do you feel it, or still in denial?

Take this brief assessment. In the last three months, have you experienced any of these signs of financial anxiety? (Any of these symptoms may indicate that the stress of financial uncertainty may impact negatively.)

Insecurity (or fear) about their investments, career or job
Insomnia (sleeping, waking, difficulty returning to sleep, or wake up without resting)
Anxiety and negative thoughts (being fixed in the news negative events)
Shortness of control "over money or work
Headaches, neck aches Back pain (and muscles generally very low)
Nervous Stomach-Changes in appetite (not hungry or craving food)
Fear or anger (including rabies) near the surface
Top blood pressure, rapid or irregular heart rate
Impatience – Lack of education
Loss of job – prone to accidents – making bad decisions
The increase in disease
The increase in substance abuse, drugs, medicines, food
Increased cravings for caffeine or sugar (yes, even chocolate)
Living in the past (good times) or fear of the future (the unknown)
Fun and happiness are Down – Quality of life is poor
A loss of hope …

Perhaps you have suffered social isolation "or shame about their financial situation. It's hard to talk about and may feel lonely or isolated. This can lead to depression. You feel you do not have to turn and no one to talk about their fears and their situation. His self-image can feel crushed. Low levels of anger and hostility may be lurking below the surface and increased sensitivity may make you feel as if you were about to "complement." They often feel completely overwhelmed. We can be afraid of "what if" and know that we have problems with age or by supporting parents to our children in college.

We are living the "Global Warming" Meltdown of our financial systems with potentially irreversible damage to our psyche the experience of loss of confidence in financial services and our employment or career plan.

By knowing how these financial challenges have affected and avoid the survival mechanism of denial, you can start working to minimize, if not eliminate, the negative spiral downward in the financial anxiety. There are things you can do to change the way we are responding to negative news. Although it may not be able to handle all difficult situations, have no why be a victim emotional fear responses habituated.

Before describing the positive alternatives that can be used, let us briefly in the Lining "Silver" in this dark cloud of financial distress.

1. This recession has caused many of us "SLOW DOWN" and pause to reflect on the priorities in our lives.
2. We may be required to "simplify" is not always a bad thing.
3. We may have to find our creativity and celebrate our productive efforts, including decisions (instead of buying "Christmas presents.
4. We are faced with and are affected by empathy for others and this can show our generosity and connect us with others in a positive way, giving.

To regain control during these difficult times we need to invest time and energy in caring for ourselves. Regular exercise or activity, eating well, regular stress management, and simplify our expectations are all components of a plan of self-care that can help us survive this difficult time with grace. Although it takes time and energy to do these things, that will save you time and energy in the long term.
