Thanks to the improvements made by the pearl industry has been a prolific increase in the production of pearl jewelry. But not everyone is happy. Some providers complain that the excess of pearls is pushing down world prices. Expert jewelers complain that the pearls are of questionable quality being released on the market in large numbers. However, although the bit holding facility should sound OK for all lovers of the pearl, the issue of quality is a cause for concern.

So what's all this fuss about the quality?

Fact 1: cultured pearls are not indestructible "Unlike gemstones, gold or silver, pearls are the products derived from living organisms.
Fact 2: last line "If the quality of cultured pearls is poor, wear out quickly. All that remains after a few months will bring the chain with shell beads.

This has nothing to do with the S 4, which is so often used to describe quality pearl-size, shape, shade or on the surface. All these are really personal preferences and even the experts agree with that. However it is widely accepted that the most important characteristic that determines the value of pearls is the "5th SHINE-S or the absence of a better name!

The brightness is a property natural strip every single pearl. Unlike size, shape, shadow or surface brightness is more an abstract concept. SHINE really can not give a number or measure with a scale. Was not even in any way, although, of course, is reflected in the price of the pearl, no pun. SHINE is a property that is in the eye of the beholder. Technically a pearl is described as having bright, east sheen, an inner glow, and the list is endless! And all this has an explanation logic and everything to do with the thickness and stratification of "pearl." Shell is the layer of nacre, or mother-of-pearl that is deposited in concentric layers around the center of the pearl. Natural pearls are all nacre thickness, and this is what makes them so special and valuable long-term and long term.

So if the thickness of nacre is so important can be measured? The answer is yes, but at significant cost because the technique requires the use of sophisticated equipment that only can be found in special laboratories. Some experts of the pearl of the view that knowledge and measure the thickness of nacre is essential if you spend serious money. A pearl that is at least 0.4 mm makes a pearl of great quality that last a very long time. But in real life mother-of measurement is not routinely done by the extra expense. The notable exception to this is the Tahitian Black Pearl. The Ministry of Tahiti Perliculture strictly controls the quality of the pearls launched in the market and sets a thickness of Pearl standard 0.8mm or more.

The following are some suggested techniques that can help determine the quality of the pearls based on property SHINE:

* Examine each pearl in a good light. If the layer is very thin nacre, the pearl will be shown to be transparent and central nucleus can be seen through the surface.
* Look at your reflection in the surface of the pearl. The clearer the reflection, the higher the quality of the pearl. Milky looking beads indicate poor quality.
* Stay away if the surface and peel it appears that since this is a sure sign of thin shell.
* Avoid pearls, while wearing red or similar colors. Looking pearls on a red reflex gives the false impression thick nacre. On the other hand a dress or a red shirt will do an excellent complement for your pearls!
* Do not examine pearls to artificial bright light or direct sunlight. Have removed them from bright light directly and allow time to accommodate the eyes before continue with the test.
* Compare the string with some others, especially the higher prices as is generally the higher the price of better quality.
* Take their time to go through each individual bead on the beach. It is difficult for all to be exactly the same but the overall look should be uniform. Note that the balls in the center of the necklace are the most important and therefore should be the best in the whole place.
