/What the strategic reason behind the Battle of the Coral Sea 1942?

After the attack on Pearl Harbor December 1941, Army Japan continued to make some offensive military action in the Pacific Ocean. It tends to the Pacific War between Japan and the U.S.. What were the military and political consequences after the Coral Sea Battle of 1942?

The strategic reason was to keep Japan out of Australia and South New simple.The Guinea.It was that battle cost the U.S. Navy as one of their best aircraft carriers, USS Lexington.Japan only lost a small plane company, but could not land troops in battle New Guinea.The probably not worth the loss of the spacecraft and its Lexington.That the plane could have been better use to restrict Japanese Midway.But advances in the southwest Pacific was to shorten the time for General MacArthur to return to the Philippines.
