From the beginning, TH Mawson and Sons architects proposed that the more formal Italian gardens in central park with a big center with views of the gardens, linked by general a concrete staircase similar to those that can be seen in a house Walking.

Mawson's original plans for the community center were very large indeed, four floors, where coffee is Art Deco. Unfortunately, before building the community center had begun, funds are starting to run very low so a more modest building, the Cafe, is now in place.

The cafe was designed by the Assistant Chief of Architecture was opened and CJ Robinson in 1937. Windows symmetrical design, only one story high, high were installed to increase the lighting and the sense of height and is a common feature the art deco era. It is very important that the building looks larger than it was in command of the position that the original building was designed with a view to the terrace and Italian garden.

The term refers to the Art Deco decorative style of the period between 1910 and 1940 and left many influences in the style eg functional design and simple geometry with little ornamentation. There were also cultural influences, for example, of ancient Egypt (after the discovery of Tomb Tutenkamen 1922).

The Art Deco period is also associated with jazz and machinery of the period, increasing the availability of transport to be particularly influential in streamlining the time of the curves and rounded corners that can be demonstrated by one of the lobbies of the cafeteria with classical fluted columns that also are typical of the art-deco era.

The Café also features art deco iron gates with scenes of sports and fashion in a single infusion. Other influences topics include exotic decorative style, motives for sun, beach and water issues can be found in their own buildings, interior design, pottery and is integrated into the fabrics used.

Today coffee is a very popular place of meeting, holding musical events as all band Mike Lovell Stars swing with Rosie on a Sunday afternoon … a delight, while wading through your Sunday dinner!
