What should I do in this situation?

My ex found my mom's jewelry in her purse pouch (hence the complaints). This is after long accepted that he had lost and even suspected that my ex took. She is in another country and he said he'll give to me when come home this year. I asked the ship in place. She then told him he might get lost in customs and that she will give me when I return. What are the possibilities that will be sent to me via a reliable courier service, once back to your home immediately??? I thought maybe I should just have enabled him to overcome the complications of the meeting or hassle of having to send when here. But then again it was my mom and one of the few memories I have of her. She died 8 years ago …
